Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL), India’s leading passenger vehicle manufacturer, has achieved a historic milestone by producing over 2 million vehicles in a single calendar year for the first time. This remarkable feat makes Maruti Suzuki the only Indian OEM to achieve this distinction and the first among Suzuki Motor Corporation’s global facilities.
The 2 millionth vehicle, an Ertiga, rolled out from Maruti Suzuki’s advanced Manesar manufacturing facility in Haryana. Out of the total production, approximately 60% was contributed by its Haryana plants, while 40% came from the Gujarat facility. Top models manufactured in 2024 include the Baleno, Fronx, Ertiga, WagonR, and Brezza.
Maruti Suzuki currently operates three plants: two in Haryana (Gurgaon and Manesar) and one in Gujarat (Hansalpur), with a combined production capacity of 2.35 million units annually. To meet rising demand, the company plans to expand its annual capacity to 4 million units.
A new greenfield facility at Kharkhoda, Haryana, is under construction and will be operational by 2025 with an initial capacity of 2.5 lakh units. Once fully developed, the Kharkhoda plant will produce up to 1 million units annually. Maruti Suzuki is also exploring another greenfield facility, aiming for future growth and leadership in the Indian and global markets.
