Following the success of Kalki 2898 AD, director Nag Ashwin is working on a female-led project. The reports have suggested that the filmmaker is in talks with Alia Bhatt to lead the project. As per Mid-Day, the actress is a perfect fit for the role and is preparing for a large scale pan-India film post SS Rajamouli’s RRR.
While there has been no confirmation from either director or actress, a source close to the production has revealed that both Ashwin and Alia are excited about the collaboration. Although the details surrounding the character being offered to Alia is kept under wraps, it has been learnt that the role is tailor-made for the actress, knowing her persona on playing strong female characters. As per Bollywood Hungama, the script is being focused on a powerful female lead, is said to require emotional depth and intensity, tackling themes of resilience and empowerment in a contemporary setting.
The report added that the project is backed by the Hyderabad based production house, Vyjayanthi Films, and is expected to begin production in the second half of 2025.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Alia is currently busy shooting Alpha with Sharvari Wagh. The film might also feature Hrithik Roshan in his extended avatar of Kabir from War.
