Maruti Suzuki recently announced a price cut for a few specific models. The initial price of S-Presso LXI Petrol, which was ₹5.01 lakh (ex-showroom), has been reduced by ₹2,000. On the other hand, the Alto K10 VXI Petrol now costs ₹6,500 less.
This follows as Maruti Suzuki announced a 3.9% decrease in overall car sales for August 2024, with 181,782 units sold, down from 189,082 units in the same month the previous year. In August, the firm sold 145,570 units domestically while exporting 26,003 units.
The company’s mini and compact category sales declined significantly to 68,699 units from 84,660 units in August 2023.
Compact vehicle dispatches, which include the Baleno, Celerio, Dzire, Ignis and Swift, fell 20% to 58,051 units, compared to 72,451 units the previous year. Utility vehicle dispatches, which included the Grand Vitara, Brezza, Ertiga, Invicto, Fronx and XL6, increased to 62,684 last month, up from 58,746 the previous month.
Partho Banerjee, Senior Executive Officer (Marketing & Sales) of Maruti Suzuki India (MSI), stated that the company’s car dispatches decreased by 13,000 units in August. He said, “Our focus has been that our channel partners are able to have a reasonably healthy stock to sell the vehicles, so we are continuously trying to break the stocks down.”
