Mahindra Group, a leading Indian multinational conglomerate, has announced a strategic partnership with Sentrycs Ltd, an Israeli counter-drone technology company, to develop and provide anti-drone solutions in India. The collaboration, formalized through a Non-Binding Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), aims to address the growing concerns of drone-based threats in both civilian and military contexts.

Key Highlights:

  1. The partnership focuses on the transfer of technology (TOT) and manufacturing of radio frequency-based counter-drone solutions under India’s ‘Make in India’ initiative.
  2. The proposed anti-drone system is an autonomous and integrated solution with a command and control (C2) module, capable of detecting, tracking, identifying, and mitigating incoming drones.
  3. The system can differentiate between friendly and hostile drones, and safely land threat drones in predefined zones without causing collateral damage.
  4. Applications include protection of critical infrastructure in urban areas and as part of broader multi-layered anti-drone solutions for military use.

Vinod Sahay, President of Aerospace & Defence Sector at Mahindra, emphasized the importance of this partnership in exploring opportunities in the anti-drone space and aligning with the ‘Make in India’ objectives.

Yoav Zaltzman, CEO of Sentrycs, highlighted the growing use of drones in military conflicts and the need for appropriate technological solutions to mitigate risks posed by hostile drones.

This collaboration marks a significant step in India’s defense technology sector, addressing the evolving landscape of aerial threats and showcasing the country’s commitment to developing indigenous defense capabilities.
