Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan, on Monday, pens a letter to the former PM Dr. Manmohan Singh reverting back to the latter’s letter to PM Narendra Modi.
“While you understand the importance of vaccination, people in responsible positions in your party as well as in state government formed by your party do not seem to share your view,” says Harsh Vardhan in his reply to the former PM.

On Sunday, Dr. Manmohan Singh wrote a letter to Prime Minister Modi suggesting some ways to tackle the ongoing global pandemic. Singh propounded focussing on the total percentage of people vaccinated in India, instead of counting the number of people.
Furthermore, he has suggested the government that it should make the states unencumbered to decide their categories of frontline workers who can be vaccinated, irrespective of age.
Additionally, the Ex-PM has proposed the advance placement of orders of vaccines as it would make the producers adhere to an agreed scheduled of supply.
He has also suggested not to insist on domestic bridging trials rather the government should rely on the vaccines which have been approved by credible authorities.
One more way that Dr. Manmohan Singh recommends is that the government must encourage the producers to produce more and more vaccines by giving concessions and additional funds, too.
“The key to our fight against Covid-19 must be ramping up the vaccination effort. We must resist the temptation to look at the absolute numbers being vaccinated, and focus instead on the percentage of the population vaccinated,” says the former Prime Minister in his letter to PM Modi.
