Heavy U.S.–Israeli airstrikes struck the Iranian city of Isfahan, targeting multiple sites including industrial and military facilities as the ongoing conflict between Washington, Tel Aviv and Tehran entered its third week.
According to Iranian media reports, a missile strike hit a factory in an industrial area of Isfahan that produces heating and cooling equipment, including refrigerators and heaters. The attack reportedly occurred during working hours, and at least 15 people were killed, with workers inside the facility at the time.
Additional strikes were also reported on military infrastructure linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), including an airbase and other defense-related installations in the region.
Strategic importance of Isfahan
Isfahan is considered one of Iran’s most strategically important cities because it hosts a concentration of military-industrial facilities and defense infrastructure. The region has previously been targeted during the conflict, with strikes reported on missile production and storage sites, air defense systems, and airfields, including earlier attacks on Iranian F-14 fighter jets at Isfahan airport.
The city is also located near the Isfahan Nuclear Technology and Research Center, a major nuclear-related facility that has been damaged during previous phases of the conflict.
Rising casualties and damage
Iranian officials say the ongoing war, which began on February 28, 2026, has resulted in more than 1,400 deaths across the country, including civilians, with thousands more injured.
Strikes in and around Isfahan have also reportedly caused damage to historic and cultural sites, including areas near Naqsh-e Jahan Square, as well as heritage landmarks such as Chehel Sotoun Palace and the Masjed-e Jāme (Friday Mosque).
Escalation across the region
The United States and Israel say the campaign has degraded Iran’s missile systems, air defenses, and military infrastructure, with thousands of targets reportedly struck since the start of the operation.
Iran has responded with missile and drone attacks targeting Israel, U.S. bases in the Gulf region, and shipping routes near the Strait of Hormuz, raising concerns about wider regional escalation and disruptions to global energy supplies.
More developments are expected as the conflict continues to intensify.
