Flight 354 from San Francisco to Boston, operated by United Airlines, made an emergency landing on Monday due to wing damage. The airline cited an issue with the slat on the aircraft’s wing but did not provide details on the cause.
Kevin Clarke, a passenger on the flight, shared a video on social media revealing a partially shredded slat panel. In the video, Clarke expressed concern about the condition of the wing as the plane was about to land in Denver. The incident involved a Boeing 757-200 aircraft and affected all 165 passengers on board. United Airlines assured that safety measures were implemented, but the incident raised questions about aircraft maintenance and passenger safety.
Following the wing flap issue, the aircraft was diverted to Denver International Airport and landed safely at 5:21 p.m. Passengers were subsequently transferred to another plane, arriving at Boston Logan International Airport early Tuesday morning, as confirmed by United Airlines. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announced plans to investigate the incident.
In a recent occurrence, most of Boeing’s 737 MAX 9 jets were grounded by the FAA after an incident involving an Alaska Airlines MAX 9 passenger jet. The incident entailed a door plug blowing off shortly after takeoff.
