On Saturday, April 17, 2021 President Joe Biden played golf for the first time, while in office. This was his 87th day as the president of the United States. By contrast, former President Donald Trump played golf on15th day in the office as a president in 2017. According to a tracker called “Trump Golf Count”, the former president visited the golf course nearly every weekend, a total of 19 times till his 100th day in the office. Biden played golf at Wilmington Country Club near his home in Delaware. The White House pool reporters stated that he golfed with advisor Steve Richetti and his late son’s father-in-law, Ron Oliver.

The golf-tracking website shows that Trump mostly played golf at his properties, like The Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach. The tracker also says that Trump played golf nearly 300 times during his four-year tenure. Before entering the office, Trump would often blast his predecessor, former President Barack Obama, for golfing, saying that if he were in the role, he would never “have time” to play.

Trump once tweeted that he knew many people who work out endlessly, in some cases, to the point of exhaustion. It was their number one passion in life, but “nobody” complained. “My exercise is playing, almost never during the week, a quick round of golf. Obama played more and much longer rounds, no problem”, the Tweet said further.

Obama did play more rounds of golf than Trump. But it was for a two-term tenure. This means that Obama played a total of 333 rounds of golf in his eight years as president. According to a report published by  NBC News in 2020, White House aides struggled to contact the former president while he was golfing at the Trump National Golf Club at Sterling, Virginia. The frequency of his “golf rounds” intervened with the daily workflow and responsibilities of the office. Meanwhile, Biden has earned the distinction of being one of the top 150 players in Washington DC.
