US Elections 2020: Republicans to raise 60 million dollars to fund Donald Trump’s legal battles

President Donald Trump’s campaign and Republicans have approached donors in an attempt to fund legal challenges brought by President Donald Trump over the US presidential election’s results costing at least $60 million (£45 million), sources said on Friday. “They want $60 million,” said a Republican donor who received solicitations from the campaign and the Republican National Committee.

The Trump’s campaign has filed lawsuits in several states following Tuesday’s election, placing the president against the Democratic former Vice-President Joe Biden. Post narrow leads over Trump in the battleground states of Pennsylvania and Georgia three days after polls closed, Biden treads closer towards a potential victory. This victory has invited email and text solicitations alleging foul play, concepted and promoted by the Trump campaign. The legal contestations come in light of the same, urging followers to pitch in more cash as support.

The Nevada Republican Party filed a lawsuit to stop the vote count in the County, which was later dropped after agreement to add more observers. The campaign has lost court rulings in closely contested states, including Georgia, but scored a legal win in Pennsylvania on Friday, when a court ordered election officials to set aside provisional ballots cast on Election Day by voters whose absentee or mail-in ballots were received on time. “We will win Pennsylvania. I have as much confidence today as I had yesterday. We also won a major victory in Pennsylvania this morning that helps ensure the transparency and openness that Pennsylvania deserves is held true,” Trump campaign manager Bill Stepien asserted.
