US President Donald J. Trump took to Truth Social to firmly separate the ongoing US-Iran negotiations from the recent Lebanon ceasefire, while pledging strong American support for Lebanon’s future.

In his latest post, Trump wrote:

“AGAIN! THIS DEAL IS NOT TIED, IN ANY WAY, TO LEBANON, BUT WE WILL, MAKE LEBANON GREAT AGAIN!”

This statement comes amid rapid developments surrounding the Strait of Hormuz, where Iran has declared commercial shipping routes fully open during the remaining period of the Lebanon ceasefire, while maintaining restrictions on military vessels.

Trump’s Clear Message on the Iran Deal

President Trump emphasized that the emerging agreement with Iran — which includes the potential unfreezing of Iranian assets and full reopening of the Strait of Hormuz for commercial traffic — stands independently from the Israel-Lebanon ceasefire.

He reiterated that the US naval blockade targeting Iran-linked traffic will remain in full force until the entire transaction with Iran is “100% complete.” However, he expressed optimism that negotiations are advancing quickly, with many key points already settled.

By decoupling the Hormuz-related deal from Lebanon, Trump aims to prevent any perception that the Iran agreement is a direct quid pro quo for the fragile ceasefire in Lebanon.

Current Status of Strait of Hormuz Developments

The clarification arrives as:

  • Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi declared the Strait of Hormuz completely open for all commercial vessels during the remaining ceasefire period.
  • A senior Iranian military official stated that military vessels are still not allowed to pass through the strategic waterway.

Trump has welcomed the opening for business while stressing that the US maintains its targeted blockade on Iran until a full, comprehensive agreement is reached.
