Islamabad, Dec 17 (UNI) Pakistan on Friday reported its second case of Omicron in Karachi, as per media reports quoting sources in the Sindh Health Department.
A 35-year-old UK returnee first tested positive for Covid-19, and was transferred to a private hotel on Shahrae Faisal from the airport.
Following his genome sequencing, the presence of the new variant was confirmed. However, by then the infected person escaped the quarantine centre, which at present have 19 occupants, GeoNews reported.
Of these 19, five were awaiting genome sequencing.
At least 38 people have so far escaped quarantine as authorities have not provided any security at the centre.
