Lahore: 2 dead, 16 injured in a blast

The office of Usman Buzdar in a tweet said that the CM demanded a report from the police regarding the blast in Lahore. An investigation was also ordered by him for the incident. Emergency was declared at the Jinnah Hospital in Lahore where the injured were admitted, the tweet said.

On Wednesday, two people were killed and 16 injured in a major blast in Pakistan’s Lahore. The blast allegedly occurred near the Lahore residence of Hafiz Saeed; co-founder of Lashkar-e-Taiba and the chief of Jamaat-ud-Dawah.

Rescue operations had been started by the Police and Bomb disposal teams soon after the explosion occurred in Johar town. A rescue official said the injured were shifted to Lahore’s Jinnah Hospital via private cars and auto-rickshaws. The intensity of the blast shattered the glass windows of the houses nearby as said by the witnesses. Damage occurred to a few buildings at the site of the incident as well.

An eyewitness mentioned that an unidentified individual had parked a motorcycle near the house which exploded later. The traffic had been redirected from the area, while the Police cordoned off the area for the further investigation of the blast.
