Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has issued a strong warning that it stands ready to respond forcefully to any new attack or violation, even as a temporary two-week ceasefire with the United States has just begun.
The ceasefire was announced on April 7-8, 2026. President Donald Trump agreed to suspend all US and Israeli bombing and attacks on Iran for two weeks. In exchange, Iran committed to the “complete, immediate, and safe” reopening of the Strait of Hormuz for international shipping, including oil and gas tankers.
Key points of the ceasefire include:- Immediate halt to major US-Israeli strikes on Iranian territory.
– Iran allowing unrestricted and safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz.
– Both Iran and Oman permitted to charge transit fees on ships using the waterway (a new development, as it was previously treated as an international route without tolls).
– Negotiations to begin soon in Islamabad on a broader settlement, based on Iran’s 10-point proposal.
– The truce provides a window of 15–20 days (or up to two weeks) to finalise a more comprehensive “Islamabad Accord,” which could include Iranian commitments not to pursue nuclear weapons in exchange for sanctions relief and release of frozen assets.
Iran’s Supreme National Security Council confirmed acceptance of the deal but stressed that this pause “does not mean the end of the war.”
IRGC Signals No Weakness
In a firm statement released today, the IRGC warned that while Iran has not targeted civilian sites and will not do so first, it will not hesitate to retaliate decisively against any aggression on Iranian facilities.
The two-week truce offers a brief breathing space after more than a month of intense conflict that began on February 28, 2026. Both sides claim elements of victory, but the situation stays tense and fragile as the world watches to see whether this pause can lead to real de-escalation.
