Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has stated that Lebanon and Iran’s allied groups are formally part of the ceasefire framework agreed between Iran and the United States.

Ghalibaf stressed that this inclusion is a core element of the 10-point proposal and must be respected. Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif publicly reinforced this position, describing it as firm and non-negotiable. When announcing the ceasefire, Sharif explicitly stated that the agreement covers “everywhere, including Lebanon and elsewhere, effective immediately.”

Strong Warning on Violations

Ghalibaf warned that any ceasefire violations would carry explicit costs and trigger strong responses. He urged all parties to “extinguish the fire immediately” to prevent further escalation and allow diplomacy to move forward.

Fragile Two-Week Ceasefire Context

The two-week ceasefire, mediated by Pakistan and announced on April 7-8, 2026, includes the US and Israel suspending major strikes on Iran in exchange for Iran reopening the Strait of Hormuz for safe international shipping. Negotiations are set to begin soon in Islamabad.

However, differences remain over whether the truce fully covers the Israel-Hezbollah front in Lebanon. Ghalibaf’s firm remarks highlight Tehran’s insistence that attacks on its allies must stop for the agreement to hold and for talks to make progress.

The situation remains tense, with both sides watching closely to see if the fragile pause can be maintained.
