
An earthquake of magnitude 5.0 struck the Philippine province of South Cotabato today i.e 26 th August according to the authorities.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) detected the quake in the southwest area of Surallah earlier than it took place. The tremors were termed as moderately strong which were felt in numerous areas, including Banga, Tampakan, Tupi, T’Boli, and City of Koronadal, South Cotabato; Maasim, Alabel, Glan, and Malapatan, Sarangani; General Santos City. Other places that faced the consequences of the quake we’re Lake Sebu, South Cotabato; Malungon, Sarangani but of considerably lower intensities.
The Philippines’ National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said there were no immediate reports of major damage or injuries, but its assessment for the same were still going on.
