Marvel’s Thunderbolts has finally revealed its villain, and he’s even more intimidating than anyone expected. A new promo for the upcoming MCU movie has confirmed what fans have been speculating for a while: Lewis Pullman’s mysterious character, “Bob,” is actually The Void, one of the deadliest beings in Marvel history.

Up until now, Marvel has kept Pullman’s role under wraps, but the latest teaser and global trailer have given fans a glimpse into his darker side. In the new promo, Bob ominously says, “I am the Void. There’s no use fighting… You don’t know what I’m capable of. Maybe I need to show you.”

Bob is no ordinary character; his powers are so immense that they surpass the combined strength of all the Avengers. Julia Louis-Dreyfus’s character, Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, even goes so far as to call him “invincible,” warning that no one stands a chance against him. “He’s invincible, all-powerful, stronger than all of the Avengers rolled into one,” she says in the clip.

The character of The Void comes from the comics, where he’s originally known as Robert Reynolds. As a troubled young man, Reynolds gains unimaginable powers after he accidentally ingests a version of the Super Soldier Serum. These powers create two very different sides within him: one heroic and one deeply destructive.

Although Marvel Studios hasn’t directly confirmed that Pullman is playing Robert Reynolds, the trailers and even merchandise, like a Hasbro action figure featuring Pullman’s likeness, all but confirm it.

Pullman teased his character’s details during the San Diego Comic-Con last year, telling Entertainment Weekly, “All I’ll say is that everyone has their own nicknames, and Bob is not his only name, as Lewis is not my only name.”

Directed by Jake Schreier, Thunderbolts also stars Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, David Harbour as the Red Guardian, Olga Kurylenko as Taskmaster, and Louis-Dreyfus as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, among others.

Marvel Studios’ head Kevin Feige has previously shared some insight into the movie, explaining that the characters in Thunderbolts are more anti-heroes than traditional heroes. “They are barely heroes. None of them would consider themselves heroes. When your de facto leader is Bucky Barnes, that’s sort of all you need to know,” Feige said.

Thunderbolts hits theaters on May 2, and tickets are already on sale.
