Jason Statham is no stranger to pushing the limits when it comes to dangerous stunts in his action-packed career. From daring car chases to explosive showdowns, he’s done it all. However, one particular scene in the 2014 action film “The Expendables 3” nearly spelled disaster for the star.

In this installment of the franchise, directed by Patrick Hughes, Statham found himself facing a perilous situation during filming. According to reports from Business Insider, a scene required him to drive a three-ton truck at high speed. However, things took a terrifying turn when the brakes of the vehicle malfunctioned, sending the truck hurtling into the nearby Black Sea with Statham still inside.

Despite the sudden plunge into the water, Statham, drawing on his background as a professional diver for England, managed to escape without any injuries. Swimming to safety, he demonstrated remarkable composure and skill in the face of danger.

Reflecting on the incident, Statham’s co-stars, including Sylvester Stallone, emphasized the gravity of the situation. Speaking at the film’s London premiere in 2014, Stallone recounted the harrowing ordeal, highlighting the fortunate circumstances that ultimately saved them from tragedy.

“Luckily, we had taken the doors off before. If anyone else had been in that truck, we would have been dead because we were all wearing heavy boots and gun belts,” Stallone explained. “We would have drowned. But because Jason is an Olympic-quality diver, he got out of it.”

Statham’s brush with danger serves as a reminder of the risks involved in performing high-stakes stunts for the sake of cinematic action. His quick thinking and athleticism undoubtedly played a crucial role in averting a potential disaster, showcasing his resilience and professionalism in the face of adversity.
