Baek Mi Kyung, the well-known writer behind dramas like Mine and Melting Me Softly, has fans buzzing again as talks about continuing her hit Strong series heat up. It’s been a while since her last project, and many have been wondering what she’s working on next. In a recent interview with Asia Kyungjae, she hinted that the story is not finished yet and that she’s already planning her next move.
Fans of Strong Woman Do Bong Soon and Strong Girl Namsoon have been especially eager to know whether Park Hyung Sik and Park Bo Young might return to the franchise. The pair has become one of the most loved couples in K-dramaland, and their cameo in Strong Girl Namsoon only fueled the desire to see them again. While Baek Mi Kyung didn’t confirm their return, the possibility remains high given their importance to the series so far.
Reflecting on the journey of the franchise, the writer explained her creative process. She said that when she first made Strong Woman Do Bong Soon in 2017, her goal was to craft a strong, memorable female character. With Strong Girl Namsoon in 2023, she went a step further, looking at the environment surrounding women, the struggles they face, and the influence they can have on the people around them.
Now, she’s looking to take the universe in a new direction. Her next project, tentatively titled Strong Woman Jangchung-dong, will shift the focus away from just a female-centered role and instead explore deeper ideas about good and evil. She compared her vision to something like Batman: The Dark Knight, saying that in today’s world where the lines between right and wrong are often blurred, she feels a need to explore truth and morality more directly.
Although she left the question of Park Hyung Sik and Park Bo Young’s comeback unanswered, their lasting connection to the series makes it very likely that we’ll see them again in some form. For now, fans can only wait to see how Baek Mi Kyung evolves the beloved Strong universe in her next chapter.
