Chris Evans is sad for not being a part of Avengers: Doomsday! Here’s what he has to say about his absence from the movie

Chris Evans is not on Avengers: Doomsday and we’re equally sad about it

Looks like our OG Captain America, Chris Evans, is officially sitting this one out, and yes, he feels a certain way about it. In a recent chat with Screen Rant, the actor opened up about not being part of the next big Marvel blockbuster, Avengers: Doomsday, which, by the way, will also mark the return of none other than Robert Downey Jr. to the MCU!

Chris hasn’t played Steve Rogers since 2019’s Avengers: Endgame (you remember that emotional goodbye, right?) He literally handed over the shield to Sam Wilson, played by Anthony Mackie. Since then, Mackie has taken over as the new Captain America, and he’ll be suiting up again in Captain America: Brave New World. But with a brand-new Avengers movie on the way, fans can’t help but miss the original Cap, and apparently, so does Chris.

Chris Evans wanted to be a part of Avengers: Doomsday

When asked how he feels about not being in Avengers: Doomsday, Chris said he still keeps in touch with his Marvel buddies. “Yeah, I talk to them all the time,” he shared. “It’s where Pedro [Pascal] is right now. I mean, it’s sad to be away,” he added. But he didn’t sugarcoat it either; he admitted that being left out kind of stings. “It’s sad to not be back with the band, but I’m sure they’re doing something incredible, and I’m sure it’s going to be that much harder when it comes out, and you feel like you weren’t invited to the party,” he said, adding that when the movie comes out, it’ll be tough not to feel like he was left out of the coolest party ever.

And honestly? That’s relatable. He’s happy for the team, but there’s a little bit of FOMO (fear of missing out) too.

Chris is currently working on a movie called Materialists, where he stars alongside Pedro Pascal, who, funny enough, is now entering the Marvel universe himself. Pascal is set to appear in Fantastic Four: First Steps and will also play a big role in Avengers: Doomsday. So yeah, Evans might be stepping out, but his co-stars are stepping in.

What do we know about Avengers: Doomsday so far?

Well, not much has been officially revealed (Marvel’s keeping things super secret). But what we do know is exciting. The Russo Brothers (who directed Infinity War and Endgame) are back at the helm, which means we can probably expect something massive and emotional.

The biggest surprise? Robert Downey Jr. is returning, but not as Iron Man. This time, he’s switching sides and playing Dr. Victor Von Doom, a major villain. Yep, Iron Man as the bad guy. That alone has fans losing their minds.

The movie is set to release in December 2026, and its sequel, Avengers: Secret Wars, will follow in 2027. The cast list already includes big names like Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Vanessa Kirby, Tom Hiddleston (Loki), Paul Rudd (Ant-Man), Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan (Winter Soldier), and now, Pedro Pascal. It’s a stacked lineup.

So while Chris Evans won’t be suiting up this time, he’s still cheering his Marvel fam on, just from the sidelines. And who knows? Marvel always loves a twist… maybe we’ll see Cap again when we least expect it.
