Gabriel Macht made a memorable return to his iconic role as Harvey Specter in Suits L.A., bringing fans back into the world of legal drama. Before his cameo, the show’s makers teased the appearance, raising anticipation for the moment when Harvey would meet Ted Black, the lead character of Suits L.A.. While the cameo was well-received by viewers, it also gave Macht the opportunity to reflect on the complexities of playing such a layered character.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Macht shared his initial hesitation about reprising the role of Harvey. At first, he didn’t fully understand the character, but after playing him for multiple seasons, he gained a deeper understanding of Harvey’s intricacies. Macht revealed that by the end of the show, he had begun to embody Harvey’s traits so fully that he started to act like him in real life.
Macht spoke about the differences between himself and Harvey, noting that his character’s tough exterior and constant drive to prove himself didn’t necessarily align with his own personality. However, he acknowledged that there were elements of Harvey that resonated with him, such as his tenacity and his ambition, traits that Macht can relate to in his own life.
The actor also reflected on the immense fandom Suits has built over the years, calling it “complete insanity.” He shared how mind-boggling it was to think of people watching the show multiple times, sometimes even 15 times from start to finish. Macht found it amazing that the series had such a lasting impact, with viewers returning to the episodes time and again.
A huge part of Suits‘ appeal came from the dynamic between Harvey Specter and Mike Ross, played by Patrick J. Adams. The relationship between the two characters evolved significantly over the nine seasons, and Macht discussed the special chemistry he shared with Adams both on and off-screen. He said, “I think people like that chemistry, and Patrick and I had that on set and in real life as well.”
