This year’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City will feature a spooktacular new float inspired by the ever-popular Netflix series Wednesday. As part of the annual tradition, viewers will be treated to a macabre yet festive sight — Wednesday Addams herself, serving her brother Pugsley’s head on a platter, with her trusty companion, Thing, by her side. The float promises to be a showstopper, bringing a touch of the quirky Addams family charm to the parade.
Wednesday fans can look forward to more than just the eerie float. The parade will also feature a captivating performance of the Rolling Stones’ classic “Paint it Black,” sung by indie-pop artist Bishop Briggs. The float and musical performance are designed to get fans hyped for the return of the hit Netflix series, which stars Jenna Ortega in the titular role of Wednesday Addams. Recently, Wednesday fans were excited to hear that music icon Lady Gaga will be joining the show’s second season.
But Wednesday’s float isn’t the only highlight of this year’s parade. The event will boast a star-studded lineup of celebrity appearances. Leading the way are Alison Brie, Idina Menzel, and T-Pain, while other famous faces include Jimmy Fallon & The Roots, Lea Salonga, Jonathan Bennett, Liza Colón-Zayas, and Tom Kenny. Fans of the Addams Family and Broadway theater can also look forward to cast members from some of the hottest Broadway shows, including Death Becomes Her, Hell’s Kitchen, and The Outsiders—a musical that recently won the 2024 Tony Award for Best Musical.
Along with performances from the world-renowned Radio City Rockettes, the parade will feature several new character balloons. This year, the iconic Mickey Mouse will be joined by fan favorites like Goku from Dragon Ball Z, Spider-Man, and Minnie Mouse, as well as new characters like Noorah from Extraordinary and The Elf on the Shelf. These larger-than-life balloons will fill the streets of Manhattan, adding to the festive atmosphere of the event.
For Broadway fans, the parade will also be a treat, as Idina Menzel will perform “Great Escape” from her latest musical Redwood, which is garnering attention on the Great White Way.
The 98th annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is set to air live on NBC from 8:30 a.m. to noon ET, with an encore presentation in the afternoon. For those who prefer to watch from the comfort of their homes, the parade will also be available for streaming on Peacock, ensuring fans can tune in from anywhere.
This year’s parade is a blend of the whimsical and the festive, with something for everyone—whether you’re a fan of the Addams Family or just looking forward to the season’s holiday magic. As the float featuring Wednesday Addams adds a bit of spooky fun to the mix, it also serves as a delightful teaser for fans eagerly awaiting the upcoming season of Wednesday. With so many exciting appearances and performances, this year’s parade promises to be one of the best yet.
