Blue Eye Samurai will not premiere in April 2026, even though Netflix ordered Season 2 of the series back in December 2023. Season 2 will consist of six episodes, and production of Season 2 officially began in mid to late 2025, as confirmed by Netflix’s Tudum website, along with an August 2025 video preview that provides a teaser for what is to come in Season 2.
Originally, the creators of the series had hoped for a 2026 release (possibly late in the year) because Season 1 took about three years from the time production started until its release. However, new and more reliable sources indicate that the new release window has now likely been pushed back until 2027. A report by What’s on Netflix (January 2026) clearly states that Blue Eye Samurai will not be released in 2026 and has been moved to 2027. The report notes that Blue Eye Samurai was not included on the list of new titles for Netflix’s 2026 release schedule and that high-quality animation usually requires an extensive amount of time to complete the final product.
Other reports support this delay, and both fans and news sources discuss the release date being late 2026 at the very earliest; however, 2027 is expected to be much more likely due to the animation pipeline and production status. As of now, there has been no announcement of a specific month or day for the Season 2 premiere, and there is no indication of an April 2026 premiere.
Currently, production of Season 2 is continuing because of new footage and images; however, April 2026 will be too early for a release. The best bet is that it will release sometime in 2027. Netflix will most likely provide updates (including a trailer and exact date) before moving forward into 2027.
