Undekhi Director Ashish R Shukla opens about nepotism, ‘Seen many talented and humble star kids, the outsiders are more arrogant’

Undekhi Director Ashish R Shukla opens up about the ongoing debate on nepotism. He talked about how the talented ones get the opportunity in the Bollywood industry.

Ashish R Shukla, who directed the crime-thriller web series Undekhi, received appreciation from fans as well as people from the industry like Anurag Kashyap and Rajkummar Rao. Recently, he opened up about the ongoing debate regarding nepotism. The director talked about how talented ones get the opportunity in the Bollywood industry.

In an interview with Hindustan Times, he talked about the debate and said “When the film industry was made in 1930s-40s, all from Prithviraj Kapoor, Dileep Kumar to BR Chopra were outsiders. Every time an outsider comes and finds success, he brings his child or other family members in the industry. Priyanka Chopra was an outsider, now her sister is also here.”

He further added that it is not limited to Bollywood but also to different businesses around the world. He also said, “I have seen many star kids who are talented and humble and there are also outsiders who are arrogant and have attitude. Only those who are humble and talented are making progress. There are also star kids who consider themselves artists and feel they don’t need to upgrade themselves and flop.”

He also spoke about actors like Jaideep Ahlawat, Neeraj Kabi and Abhishek Banerjee from Paatal Lok who are outsiders. He added that if nepotistic films are being made, it is because the audience watches them. “If you really wanted to save someone’s career, you should have seen those films of that actor which flopped. One thing I would say, no one has the time and money to focus on destroying someone’s career,” he said.

On the other hand, Ashish R Shukla’s Undekhi is renewed for a second season.
