‘Kangana Ranaut’s Padma Shri should be withdrawn and be charged with sedition’ -Oppostion amid ‘Azadi’ row

After receiving the Padma Shri this past week, Opposition parties suggest her award be withdrawn and the actor be charged for the controversial political statements said by her.

Actor Kangana Ranaut received Padma Shri this past week, regarding which many political parties have said the award should be withdrawn and she should be charged with sedition. This was in accordance with  snowballing controversy over her comment regarding India’s true independence achieved in the 2014-the elected period of power to Prime Minister Narendra Modi,and that 1947 independence was charity or “Bheekh”

Anand Sharma, Congress leader said on Twitter, “The Padma Shri, a prestigious award given to Ms. Ranaut should be withdrawn immediately. Prior to giving such awards, a mental psychological evaluation should be done so that in the future similar people don’t disrespect the nation and its heroes”.President Ram Nath Kovind was tagged in this tweet.

Kangana Ranaut’s comments were called out to be shameful and shocking. Mr.Sharma accused her of belittling Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, and Sardar Valabhai Patel, along with insulting the sacrifices made by the freedom fighters like Chandrashekar Azad and Bhagat Singh.

Her comments were named out by congress as “treason”.

From the sources of NDTV, it has come to be known, besides the Congress, Maharashtra Minister Nawab Malik controversially suggests the actor might have made the comments under the influence of drugs.

“Looks like the actor took a heavy dose of Malana Cream(A verity of hashish)before making such statements”, the minister told out.

The 34-year-old actor who received the prestigious award this week along with winning national awards in the past has always been voicing out about her support to the ruling BJP party and also been open about her political stance with repressing or tempering it.

The Nationalist Congress Party(NCP) along with various other political parties slammed Kangana Ranaut’s remark at an event organized by television channel Times Now. Her comment” That was not freedom but ‘bheekh’, in 1947, real freedom came in 2014.”

Varun Gandhi as well tweeted, saying “Insulting the sacrifice of Mahatma Gandhi sometimes, praising his killer (Nathuram Godse) sometimes, and now the disdain for the sacrifices Rani Laxmibai, Bhagat Singh and thousand of freedom fighters. Should I be calling this madness or treason?”

Arvind Kejriwal of Aam Admi Party(AAP) requested the Mumbai Police to register the case against the actor.
