The Indian Navy is ready to conduct a joint exercise with the United States’ aircraft carrier USS Nimitz in the Indian Ocean. The USS Nimitz is a nuclear powered aircraft carrier and is the world’s largest warship. This military exercise is aimed at responding to China’s policies of occupation of various territories on land and water, as reported by various news agencies.
The joint exercise by the two navies would be conducted along the Malacca strait. This passing exercise will be conducted via USS Nimitz which is, reportedly, armed with F/A-18F Hornets as well as F/A-18E Super Hornets which are high powered, multi-engine fighter aircrafts.
This naval exercise comes just few weeks after the warship, along with USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71) carried one out in the Phillipines sea. The exercise was conducted right at the edge of the communist nation to exemplify the United States’ strength.
The Indo-US naval exercise would be conducted along one of the busiest and important trade routes of China. Malacca strait is the primary route for the global oil flow to the countries, especially China. The route also serves as a channel between the Indian ocean and the pacific ocean. With US and India conducting a naval exercise, the bonds of two nations would be strengthened and a united front would be portrayed in front of the mainland.
This move, by both the nations, comes after the standoff along the Line of Actual Control between India and China.
After much escalated border issues, both the countries began the process of disengagement along the border on the basis of diplomatic negotiation. However, China has been showing reluctance in withdrawing its troops from the Finger 5 area in Pangong Tso in Ladakh.
At the same time, the United States has been strongly following an anti-China sentiment due to the country’s malicious intent behind hiding the information about the novel Coronavirus.
Both India and United States have strengthened their ties and with this move, are preparing to bring a strong and united front to face China.
