Twitter has launched new ‘fleets’ feature and India is amongst the first three countries along with Brazil and Italy to use it. Fleets is similar to the concept of ‘Stories’ first introduced by Snapchat and then followed by Instagram, Facebook and Whatsapp.

Manish Maheshwari, Managing Director of Twitter India said, “From the test in India, we’ll learn how adding a new mode of conversation changes the way Indians engage on Twitter… It’ll also be interesting to see if it further amplifies the diversity of usage by allowing people to share what they’re thinking in a way that is light-touch and light-hearted.”
All you need to know about this new feature:
• Fleets cannot be liked and retweeted or have comments from the followers.
• These are the tweets which appear on the top of the feed and disappear every 24 hours.
• You can check who viewed your Fleet, and watch the Fleets of those you follow.
• You can watch the Fleet of those you don’t follow by going to their profile page.
• You can reply and react to the Fleet which will be conveyed via Direct Messaging on the platform.
• This feature is available for both android and ios versions of the app.
Fleets are Twitter’s attempt to modify how the conversations take place on the platform. It was first tested on Brazil.
