Amidst the controversy of his insensitive remark being made on India’s Got Latent, Ranveer Allahbadia appeared at the Crime Branch office of the Guwahati Police Commissionerate in Assam. This marks a significant development in the ongoing investigation regarding the remarks made by Ranveer and other social media personalities on the show, hosted by comedian Samay Raina.

The scandal erupted when Ranveer, along with other social media influencers, Apoorva Mukhija, Ashish Chanchlani, and others made objectionable comment about parents and sex on the show, IGL. The remarks, deemed as vulgar, were widely criticized and led to multiple FIRs being held against them.

Earlier, on February 27, Ashish, who was a part of the controversial episode, appeared before Guwahati Crime Branch for questioning. The Guwahati police has earlier registered an FIR against Ranveer and other under various sections of India Penal Code, including the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act and the Information Technology Act.

Ranveer had earlier moved Supreme Court with plea to either dismiss or transfer the formal complaint filed against him in Guwahati to Mumbai. The podcaster had requested for the FIRs to be transferred to Maharashtra, where he resides.

Meanwhile, the Gauhati High Court granted Ashish temporary relief and instructed him to appear before the investigating officer within ten days.
