Among those whose Twitter profiles no longer display the verified blue tick are actors Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, and Alia Bhatt, politicians Yogi Adityanath, Rahul Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi, and cricketers Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.

Twitter previously declared that it would eliminate the blue tick from accounts that are deemed to be “notable.” Nevertheless, following Elon Musk’s takeover of Twitter, famous people and everyone else who was considered to be notable had to sign up for Twitter Blue in order to maintain their verified blue ticks.

After Twitter changed its verification procedure, impersonation attempts are now possible for all famous people. Starting on April 1, Twitter had reminded users that if they don’t sign up for Twitter Blue, they will lose the verified tick from their account. Anyone can sign up for Twitter Blue, according to the company’s website, in order to maintain their blue checkmark on Twitter.

The “Blue tick,” which had not previously been charged, was introduced in 2009 to assist users in recognising celebrities, politicians, businesses, and brands as well as authentic stories of public interests.

Yet within two weeks of the company’s acquisition, Musk introduced the “Twitter Blue” subscription programme, which included the verified ticks as benefits. The promise by Twitter to remove the blue checks from accounts that don’t pay the monthly fee appears to have finally begun to reality.
