Apple of discord between Tesla and Edition, the greatest scientific feud of all time

Dedicated fans may remember the episode our TBBT when the group were discussing about the rivalry between Nikola Tesla and Thomas Edison.

No, today we are not going talking about our favourite TBBT, but tell you the tale about the one of the biggest controversies of the scientific world, how and why the greatest mechanical engineer of all time Nikola Tesla died penniless, why Thomas Elva Edison popularly known as the inventor of the light bulb as we know today isn’t the rightful owner of the title.

The two feuding genius waged the “war of current” in 1880s over whose discovery will light the world- Tesla’s alternating current (AC) system or Edison’s rival direct current (DC) power.

The topic did Edison really invented the light bulb has been the heating debated of all time among the scientific nerds.

They argue that Edison merely stole the ideas and discoveries of other scientists and combined them to make the light bulb.

And others claim that Tesla is the one who came up with a system that we our all electrical current distribution system is based on.

On the other hand Edison was just to self promoting and took the credit of all the work which could possibly be done by any other scientists if not him.

“They’re different inventors, but you can’t really say one is greater, because American society needs some Edisons and it needs some Teslas” said W. Bernard Carlson, the author of “Tesla: Inventor of the Electrical Age” (Princeton Press, 2013)

Edison shortsighted scientific discovery became famous as it was simple and was understood by the people. But Tesla on the other hand was far ahead of his time, who was far more intelligent with edetic memory was foresighted, and believed in inventions that were futuristic.

“Our entire mass communication system is based on Tesla’s system,” said Marc Seifer, author of “Wizard: The Life and Times of Nikola Tesla,” (Citadel Press, 2001).

Unfortunately, Tesla’s grand scheme failed when his financial backer, J.P. Morgan, became fed up with years of failure.
