Initially rolled out last year for personal use with stringent age restrictions, Google is now expanding Gemini’s reach to students in over 100 countries through Google Workspace for Education accounts and school-issued Chromebooks. This move allows eligible teens, adhering to minimum age requirements varying by region, to utilize Gemini’s capabilities seamlessly. These include features like Help me write and Help me read, generative AI backgrounds, and AI-driven noise cancellation, all without compromising personal data privacy.


Crucially, school administrators will wield administrative controls over Gemini’s functionalities, enabling them to tailor access and manage features as needed. Students can utilize integrated tools such as Google Tasks and Calendar for homework management, collaborate via Meet and Assignments, and leverage educational apps through the expanded Google for Education App Hub.

Furthermore, Google Classroom enhancements will integrate with Student Information Systems, facilitating streamlined class setup and grading processes for educators. New features like Read Along in Classroom provide real-time reading assistance powered by AI, offering feedback on reading accuracy, speed, and comprehension to both students and teachers.
