NYT Strands today: hints, spangram and answers for Friday, July 19

Strands is a new daily puzzle from the New York Times, offering a challenging twist on the classic word search. You’ll need sharp observation skills to solve this puzzle.

How to Play NYT Strands

In each Strands puzzle, your objective is to find the “theme words” hidden in a grid of letters. You manipulate the letters by dragging or tapping to form words, and double-tap the final letter to confirm your word. If you find a correct theme word, it will be highlighted in blue and those letters will no longer be selectable.

If you find a non-theme word that’s at least four letters long, it still helps! For every three such words you find, you’ll get a hint where the letters of one theme word are revealed for you to unscramble.

Every letter in the grid is used exactly once to spell out the theme words, with no overlaps. Each puzzle also contains a “spangram” — a special theme word that touches two opposite sides of the board. Finding the spangram will highlight it in yellow.

Your goal is to complete the puzzle as quickly as possible without relying too much on hints.
