Is Sony PS5 Beta update bringing personalised 3D audio and adaptive charging

Sony is rolling out a beta update for PS5, bringing exciting new features to enhance audio immersion, user control, and power management. This update started reaching selected users in the US, Canada, Japan, UK, Germany, and France on Thursday, signaling upcoming improvements for the PS5 ecosystem.

Key Beta Features

Personalised 3D Audio

A major highlight is the introduction of personalised 3D audio profiles for headphones and earbuds. Users can now create custom audio profiles for supported devices like Sony’s Pulse Elite wireless headset and Pulse Explore wireless earbuds. These profiles enhance the gaming experience by allowing players to better sense the positions of characters and objects, making gameplay more immersive.

Enhanced Remote Play Control

The update also provides PS5 users with more control over Remote Play access. Players can now specify which users with PlayStation Network (PSN) accounts can access Remote Play, giving them greater control over their gaming sessions.

Adaptive Charging

For the latest PS5 slim model, the beta introduces adaptive charging for DualSense controllers, DualSense Edge controllers, PlayStation VR2 Sense controllers, and the Access controller. This feature aims to extend battery life by adjusting the charging duration based on the controller’s current battery level.

Currently, the beta update is available to a select group of testers. Sony plans to release the update globally in the coming months but notes that some features might be altered or omitted from the final version. Beta participants were notified via email about the update’s availability.

These updates indicate Sony’s ongoing commitment to improving the PS5 experience, focusing on immersive audio, user-friendly controls, and efficient power management.
