Soon, Meta might make more features available to customers who pay. A new product organisation is apparently being established by the social media behemoth to concentrate on “potential paid services” for Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp. Pratiti RayChoudhury, formerly the head of research at Meta, is claimed to be in charge of the unit. Other players in the market, like as Snap and Twitter, already offer the premium Snapchat+ and Twitter Blue services, which have a number of creator-only features.
According to a report by The Verge, Meta will focus on paid services for Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp by creating a new division called “New Monetization Experiences.”
According to the report, Pratiti RayChoudhury, the former head of research at Meta, will serve as the group’s leader.
At this time, it is unclear what types of features will be paid. According to John Hegeman, Meta’s Head of Advertisements and Business Products, in an interview, the company is committed to expanding the adverts business and has no intentions to allow customers to pay to turn off ads.
Digital advertising sales provide for the majority of Snap, Twitter, and Meta Platforms’ income. Paid features might increase Meta’s non-advertising earnings. Currently, users can purchase paid tiers from Twitter and Snap to access more functionality.
Twitter Blue, a membership service, costs $4.99 (about Rs. 400) per month. The price of the new Snapchat+ subscription service in India is Rs. 49 per month.
