Zoom clarifies it is not a “Chinese company” to users

Zoom has clarified the users that it is not Chinese company, it has been origined in USA.

Zoom clarifies it is not a “Chinese company” to users. Zoom clarifies stating that it is a US based company and has no origins in China.

Velchamy Sankarlingam, who joined as President of Engineering and Products at Zoom in May, after having field day in India said that India continues to be the important market for Zoom. Moreover he said that Zoom’s parent company is US based and it has offices in China just like other countries which are run by Us partners.


Zoom has already face major thrash due to this misunderstanding and the further brunt came on Zoom after Indian company Reliance Jio launches its video conferencing app JioMeet.

JioMeet has received huge response. It was downloaded over one million in one day of its launch.

Zoom is keen on not losing the grounds in India. Velchamy Sankarlingam, said that they found it very disheartening. Since there were misconceptions related to Zoom and China. However, he is keen on clarifying these misconceptions. He further added that Zoom is making consistent improvements and will soon create market for hiring local Indian talents.

Zoom has been clear about its identity. Zoom is a US company. Which is publicly traded on the NASDAQ. Also founded and headquartered in San Jose, California. And like many global technology companies, Zoom has offices in China operated by subsidiaries of the US parent company

India earlier banned 59 Chinese apps including TikTok and others, citing reasons of threat to sovereignty, privacy and national security.
