Apple announced that they will extend the repair and service programme for an additional year for the iPhone 12 and 12 pros for models that are facing earpiece issues.
Why only iPhone 12 and 12 pro?
Apple states that a “very small percentage” of the models may experience sound issues when an internal component fails within the receiver module. Any iPhone 12 or 12 pro user can avail of the programme if they are affected by an earpiece issue. The programme covers devices that were manufactured between October 2020 and April 2021. However, this programme does not apply to the iPhone 12 mini or the iPhone 12 pro max.
How to avail of the programme?
The affected consumers can approach an Apple or an Apple authorized repair centre. The program was originally launched in August 2021 and covered devices for two years from the date of purchase. However, the program will now cover eligible models for three years from the date of purchase.
