Indian tennis player Sumit Nagal bowed out of the Paris Olympics 2024 after a hard-fought match against France’s Corentin Moutet. Nagal, 26, lost in a challenging three-setter that lasted two hours and 28 minutes at the Roland-Garros stadium, with the final score being 2-6, 6-2, 5-7.

Nagal, the sole representative for India in the men’s singles event, put up a strong fight but ultimately couldn’t secure the win. Despite winning the second set, he couldn’t maintain the momentum in the deciding set.

With Nagal’s exit, India’s hopes in tennis now rest on the doubles team of Rohan Bopanna and N Sriram Balaji. Nagal has consistently faced tough competition at the Olympics, having previously lost to Russia’s Daniil Medvedev in the second round at the Tokyo Olympics.
