Komolika Bari and Sakshi Chaudhary reached the women’s final of the recurve junior and compound junior tournaments respectively, at the World Youth Archery Championships in Wroclaw, Poland on Thursday. Meanwhile, Rishabh Yadav will have to fight for the bronze medal.
Komolika, the sixth-ranked archer, got two byes. She beat Japan’s Juri Shibuya 6-4, Kazakh Ziyodakhon Abdusattarova 6-0 and Japanese archer Mao Watanabe 6-5 (8-7) to reach the semi-final of the tournament. The young archer from India beat Casey Kaufhold from the United States 6-4 in the last 4 stages to set up a final clash with Elia Canales of Spain
Eighth-ranked Sakshi Chaudhary got a bye in the first round before beating Kazakhstan’s archer Aizhan Seidakhmetova 142-141, Iran’s Bita Asheghzadeh Oskouei 147-142, Mexico’s representative Dafne Quintero 147-145 and American Anna Scarbrough 144-142 to make her way into the finals. She will face Amanda Mlinaric of Croatia in the finals of the tournament
Rishabh Yadav will clash with Sebastian Garcia of Mexico in the bronze medal match, after losing his semi-final match to Robin Jaamta of Estonia 147-146.
These successes have come after the feats of the compound archery girls and mixed team. The girl’s team went past two Under-18 world records during their rankings round of the World Youth Championships. Priya Gurjar, Parneet Kaur and Ridhu Senthilkumar made 2067 points combined to step past the earlier record by 22. Kushal Dalal, also, shot 705 with the compound U-18 team achieving a second-place finish with Kushal Dalal taking third place in the individual ranking round. The team broke the previous points record held by the Danish duo of Natacha Stutz and Mathias Fullerton (1387) at the Madrid World Youth Championships in 2019.
