Manchester United are reportedly hoping to officially confirm Michael Carrick as the club’s permanent manager before their final Premier League home game of the season against Nottingham Forest F.C..
According to reports from journalist James Ducker, United are now moving closer towards finalising Carrick’s appointment after his impressive spell as interim boss this season.
Carrick stepped into the role after the departure of Ruben Amorim earlier in the campaign. At that stage, Manchester United were struggling for consistency and facing major pressure during a difficult season.
However, the former United midfielder managed to completely change the direction of the team within months. Under Carrick, the club improved defensively, looked more balanced in midfield and produced strong results in crucial matches.
His impact has been massive at Old Trafford. Manchester United have already secured a third-place finish in the Premier League with one game still left to play, confirming their return to the UEFA Champions League next season.
The strong finish to the campaign has also increased support from fans and club officials for Carrick to take the role permanently. Many supporters believe he deserves the opportunity after stabilising the dressing room and restoring confidence inside the squad.
