The Premier League has officially released the nominees for the 2025/26 Manager of the Season award, and the biggest talking point is the inclusion of Manchester United interim boss Michael Carrick.

Carrick only stepped into the role less than six months ago after Ruben Amorim was sacked earlier this season. Despite arriving midway through the campaign, the former United midfielder managed to completely change the mood around Old Trafford and guide the club back into the top-four race. He made United finish in the Top 4 and get the UCL qualification for next season.

His impact has clearly impressed Premier League officials and fans alike, with Carrick now standing alongside some of the biggest names in English football management.

The full shortlist includes Keith Andrews of Brentford, Mikel Arteta of Arsenal, Carrick of Manchester United, Pep Guardiola of Manchester City, Andoni Iraola of AFC Bournemouth and Régis Le Bris of Sunderland A.F.C..

While Guardiola and Arteta were expected names after another strong season for Manchester City and Arsenal, Carrick’s nomination has created major discussion across social media.

Many supporters believe the Englishman deserves huge credit for stabilising United during a difficult period. Under his leadership, the team showed improvement in defence, intensity and overall confidence. Results also improved quickly after Amorim’s departure.
