Coach Álvaro Arbeloa has come out strongly in support of Florentino Pérez, backing the president’s aggressive stance on the Negreira Case and refereeing scandals in Spanish football.
In a clear and direct statement, Arbeloa said: “We all know what’s been going on for more than twenty years. What we’ve all seen is that the vice president of the refereeing committee was taking a bribe from one of the football clubs.”
He added: “This is illegal and makes no sense. It’s unreasonable that Real Madrid is the only one defending the legitimacy of football.”
Arbeloa: Real Madrid Must Fight for Fairness
Arbeloa, a Champions League winner with Real Madrid and a respected voice in Spanish football, publicly endorsed Pérez’s claims that the club has been systematically disadvantaged by refereeing decisions linked to the long-running Negreira scandal.
His comments come just days after Pérez’s explosive press conference, where the Real Madrid president accused Barcelona of corruption, claimed the club had been “robbed” of 18 points this season, and announced a dossier to UEFA.
Strong Support for Pérez’s Campaign
Arbeloa’s intervention adds weight to Pérez’s recent comments. The former right-back, known for his honesty and loyalty to Real Madrid, emphasized that the Negreira Case is not just a Real Madrid issue — it affects the credibility of the entire Spanish league.
This backing contrasts sharply with criticism from La Liga president Javier Tebas, who accused Pérez of lying.
