Rockstar Games is reportedly preparing a blockbuster marketing campaign for Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6) timed around the 2026 FIFA World Cup, one of the most-watched sporting events globally. According to an exclusive post by sports media account The Touchline, advertisements are expected to air across multiple matches, capitalizing on the tournament’s massive international audience.

The timing makes strategic sense. The FIFA World Cup 2026 kicks off in June across the United States, Canada, and Mexico, with several matches hosted in Miami  the real-life inspiration for GTA 6’s vibrant Vice City setting. Take-Two Interactive, Rockstar’s parent company, has already confirmed that full-scale launch marketing for GTA 6 will ramp up in summer 2026, ahead of the game’s scheduled November 19, 2026 release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.

Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has repeatedly expressed strong confidence in the timeline, stating that major “marketing beats” are coming this summer and describing the upcoming period as “groundbreaking” for the company. Industry insiders and fans see the World Cup overlap as a golden opportunity for Rockstar to blend high-octane gameplay footage with football fever, potentially including high-profile TV spots, digital activations, and cultural tie-ins.

Why This Could Be a Game-Changer

With billions of cumulative viewers expected during the World Cup, strategic ad placements could generate unprecedented hype for GTA 6. Rockstar is known for cinematic trailers and cultural dominance — pairing that with the world’s biggest sporting event would amplify anticipation like never before.

While Rockstar has not officially confirmed World Cup-specific advertisements, the rumor has ignited massive excitement across gaming and sports communities. As summer 2026 approaches, fans eagerly await the next trailer, gameplay reveals, and possibly more bold marketing moves.

GTA 6 is shaping up to be not just a game launch, but a full cultural phenomenon.
