The over was pure carnage as Gurbaz picked up length deliveries and dispatched them effortlessly over the ropes and to the fence.
At the end of the 14th over, Gurbaz stood unbeaten on 88 off just 44 balls, striking eight fours and five sixes, while his partner Ibrahim Zadran remained solid at 54 off 40 deliveries. Their partnership for the opening wicket had surged to 151 runs off 84 balls, putting Afghanistan in a commanding position.
Ryan Burl, who had bowled economically earlier, ended up conceding 48 runs in 3 overs, with this particular over proving costly. Gurbaz’s explosive knock not only thrilled fans but also brought up 150 for Afghanistan, marking one of the most dominant batting performances of the series.
