The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is reportedly considering Delhi, Mumbai, and Ahmedabad as potential venues for the IPL 2025 playoffs, with Ahmedabad emerging as the frontrunner to host the final match on June 3.
According to a report by Times of India, the final has been moved out of Kolkata due to the high likelihood of heavy rainfall around the scheduled date. “The final was moved out of Kolkata due to forecasts for heavy rain around June 3. Weather forecasts for Ahmedabad, Delhi and Mumbai are currently clear,” a source told the publication.
The revised IPL 2025 schedule was released earlier this week after a one-week suspension of the tournament due to rising tensions between India and Pakistan. With only a few league matches remaining, focus has now shifted to the playoff venues.
As per the updated schedule, Qualifier 1 will be played on May 29, followed by the Eliminator on May 30, and Qualifier 2 on June 1. The IPL 2025 Final will be held on June 3, with the final venue yet to be officially confirmed.
With weather concerns ruling Kolkata out, the decision between Ahmedabad, Delhi, and Mumbai is expected soon. Delhi, notably, is in strong contention for hosting at least one of the playoff games.
