The fallout from the India vs Pakistan Asia Cup 2025 clash continues to dominate headlines, not because of the cricket, but because of what unfolded after the match. Following India’s emphatic seven-wicket win, the Indian players, led by skipper Suryakumar Yadav, walked straight off the field, refusing the customary handshake with the Pakistani side.

What stung Pakistan further was what came next. According to eyewitness accounts and coach Mike Hesson’s revelation, when the Pakistani team, including skipper Salman Ali Agha, later approached India’s dressing room to complete the ritual handshake, they were met with a shut door. The gesture has been widely interpreted as a deliberate snub.

In the post-match press conference, Suryakumar Yadav clarified India’s stance: “Perfect occasion, taking the time out, we stand by the families of the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack. We express our solidarity. This win is for our armed forces.” The captain’s words underlined that the move was a conscious decision taken with national sentiment in mind, not an impulsive act.

Pakistan, however, viewed it differently. Hesson admitted the team was left “disappointed” after being ignored on the field and again outside the dressing room. “We were ready to shake hands at the end of the game. We are disappointed that our opposition did not do that. We went over there to shake hands but they had already gone to the change room. It was obviously a disappointing way for the match to finish,” he said.

The incident has since gone viral, with clips circulating widely on social media –
