Bangladesh pace bowler Taskin Ahmed eclined an offer to play for Multan Sultans in the current season of Pakistan Super League in order to focus on his preparation for the upcoming home series against England.

Taskin was reportedly offered a three-game contract by the Multan Sultans, but he declined because he preferred to get fully fit before facing the Englishmen.

Taskin suffered a grade-1 tear in his left leg during the Sylhet stage of the recently finished Bangladesh Premier League, the only franchise-based T20 competition in the nation. He missed a few games for the Dhaka Dominators as a result. In order to ensure that he is fully fit before the series against England, which is set to begin on March 1 and will consist of three ODIs and as many T20Is, the BCB medical team later created a rehabilitation plan for him.

“They (Multan Sultans) wanted me for three matches. Initially they wanted me from February 17 for three matches and afterwards I spoke with the physio and he said I can go but it would be better if I do bit more training (to recover fully from the injury),” Taskin told Cricbuzz on Saturday.

“Now I am fine and I could have gone and played as well but after I spoke with the physio I did not inform the board (about the offer) because I wanted to train well before the important series (against England),” he said.

“It’s a matter of couple of matches but by playing there (for Multan Sultans) if I has missed the upcoming series (against England) it would have looked bad. And because I am recovering from an injury it is important that I get fully fit and so I don’t have any regrets about missing it (PSL).”
