There may be a permanent seat for MS Dhoni at the Wankhede Stadium

The Mumbai Cricket Association is planning to name a sear in Wankhede Stadium after MS Dhoni to honor the memory of India’s victory in World Cup 2011.

MCA ( Mumbai Cricket Association) has proposed to name a specific seat in Wankhede Stadium after MS Dhoni to honour the memory of that six which won India the World Cup in 2011 in the same stadium.

The former Indian Captain Dhoni sent the fans around the world into a frenzy after he announced his retirement from the international cricket. Messages and appreciations poured in all around the world for the immense contribution Dhoni had towards the sport.

MCA Apex Council Member Ajinkya Naik on Monday wrote a letter to MCA just two days after Dhoni announced retirement from International Cricket which lasted nearly 16 years that included 90 Tests, 350 ODIs and 98 T20 ” And as an Act of gratitude and Tribute to Dhoni’s immense contribution to Indian Cricket, the MCA can devote a permanent seat on his name where the six landed” was a statement read in Naik’s letter to MCA.

It is the first time there has been an offer for a permanent seat not a stand in the stadium to be named after the player but the trend was in motion abroad already with Cricket Associations.

Melbourne cricket ground has Great southern stands painted yellow in 1993 to commemorate Simmon O’Donnells 122 metre six for Victoria over new south south. Elsewhere in Eden park in Auckland, New Zealand cricket decide to honour former all rounder Grand Elliot by naming a seat after him. Elliot hit the six which sealed the spot for New Zealand in their first ever World Cup finals in 2015.

The MCA Apex Council meeting is set to take place on Tuesday in which Naik’s proposal will be discussed, he further went on suggesting to find the world cup ball that was used in the Finals of 2011which can be preserved in the MCA museum, so far Wankhede Stadium has dedicated few stands and gate to player such as Sachin Tendulkar Stand, Sunil Gavaskar Stand, Vijay Merchant stand. There are also Polly Umrigar gate and Vinoo Mankad Gate.
