Yesterday, India won their second ODI match against West Indies by 44 runs. With this win, they have won the ODI series as well by 2-0. However, a lot of debate has been going around India’s batting order. Surprisingly Rishabh Pant came out to open the innings rather than coming in the middle order. KL Rahul, who opened in the previous series against South Africa, came out at no. 4.

Regarding this, Indian former cricketer, Sunil Gavaskar said mid-innings of the 2nd ODI that Rahul should open and Pant should be given the role of a finisher. He believes that this strategy did not work as India reduced to 43/3 while batting first and could only make 237/9 in 50 overs. Gavaskar also feels that India is missing the services of Indian All-rounder, Ravindra Jadeja.

India is feeling the absence of the Ravindra Jadeja at No. 7, 8. He was scoring so many runs and hitting the big shots. Brilliant fielder and picks up wickets in the middle order. He is being missed greatly by this Indian team, Gavaskar further added.

Currently, Jadeja is not playing in the West Indies series due to fitness issues. He expected to come back on the field against the Sri Lanka Series later this month, comprising three T20I series and 2 Test matches.

India will play its last match of the three-match ODI series against the West Indies on February 11, starting from 1:30 pm.
