Ben Stokes is on a break from cricket for a while now, to deal with his mental health. He also sustained a finger injury in April this year. Recovering from that, Stokes decided to take a break from cricket. However, the fans expected that their in-form all-rounder Ben Stokes will come back from his break and will join the squad for the T20I World Cup.
“Durham’s Ben Stokes was not available for selection and continues to take an indefinite break from all cricket to prioritise his mental wellbeing,” England Cricket Board said in their official statement.
However, wicket-keeper Sam Billings and pace bowler Tymal Mills were called up to the squad for the T20I World Cup 2021. The regular T20I captain of the England cricket team, Eoin Morgan will lead from the front.
