The Sydney derby between Sydney Thunder and Sydney Sixers culminated in a draw as persistent rains disrupted play, leading both teams to share a point each.

Opting to bat, Thunder faced early setbacks, finding themselves at 53/4 within eight overs. A resilient 70-run partnership between Alex Ross and Daniel Sams revived the innings, yet the Sixers’ bowlers, particularly Jack Edwards with three wickets and Jackson Bird with two, held firm in the final four overs, allowing only 28 runs. Despite their efforts, Thunder concluded at 151/7.

Alex Ross emerged as the top-scorer with 44 off 39, while Jack Edwards claimed three wickets, and Jackson Bird contributed with two, including the crucial dismissal of Tom Kohler-Cadmore.

In pursuit of a moderate target, Sixers faced an early setback when Josh Philippe fell to a caught-and-bowled by Chris Green. James Vince and Kurtis Patterson began the rebuilding process, but rain intervened with Sixers at 34/1 after four overs. Although ahead on the DLS score, a minimum of five overs was required for the second innings to be considered a complete game.

Unfortunately, the persistent rain refused to relent, resulting in the game being abandoned midway.

Brief Scores: Sydney Thunder 151/7 (Ross 44; Edwards 3-24) vs Sydney Sixers 34/1 in 4 overs – No result.
