India captain Virat Kohli is expected to travel with the rest of the team to Australia later this year despite his wife expecting their first child in January, a key official of the BCCI told Reuters on Friday.
On Thursday, Viral Kohli’s social media post announcing his wife’s pregnancy went viral, drawing good wishes from several celebrities, politicians and his Indian cricket team mates.

Cricket Australia (CA) and its broadcasters would be “holding their breath” over the presence of one of the biggest global stars of world cricket, as per media reports.
” He’s available for the tour, at least he has not said anything to the contrary,” said an official, who asked to remain anonymous.
“Now, if he has to come back in the middle of the tour, he has not said anything about that either. Of course there’s plenty of time before the series.”
Beginning on the 3rd of December in Brisbane, India will play four Tests, sandwiched between three Twenty20 Internationals and three ODI’s, in Australia.
The series against India is reportedly expected to be worth 300 million Australian dollars ($220 million) to Cricket Australia (CA), having already lost this year’s T20 World Cup due to the Covid-19 pandemic and will now host the tournament in 2022.
Australia’s Channel Seven has threatened CA, to terminate their contract over the board’s handling of the summer schedule, which further adds pressure on Cricket Australia.
